PSP 3.52 M33 custom firmware installation

3.90 M33 is the latest and best custom firmware be sure to upgrade to that one you have 3.52 m33-4. See the tutorial here

This is a tutorial for installing 3.52 M33 which is kinda like 3.52 OE CFW (custom firmware) , this firmware is made by Team M33 (a big thanks to them) instead of Dark alex , though the firmwares are pretty much similar .

.

3.52 M33-4 installation guide :

For installing this you need a 1.5 firmware psp or a psp with an older version of custom firmware - M33 or OE it doesn't matter. This cannot be installed on a PSP slim . To make your psp to 1.5 see this guide

NOTE: FOLLOW THESE STEPS CAREFULLY AND EVERYTHING WILL BE OK.

1) Format your psp (make sure you back up your files first) go to system settings and choose format memorystick and connect it to your PC . Formatting is not
compulsory but recommended. Make sure your battery is 100% full

2) Download the 3.52 M33 easy installation (compiled by me) from here

3) Open it with WinRAR if you don’t have WinRar download it from
here

4) So open with Winrar and copy the PSP folder to the root of your memorystick, If it asks you whether it can over write click on “YES”

5) IF you have a custom firmware psp make sure you have 1.5 kernel see tutorial
here (recommended) OR just change the ''GAME'' folder to ''GAME150''

6) Disconnect the psp from the PC , scroll to the game menu > memory stick and :
i) If you have a 1.5 firmware psp click on ''KXploit Patcher'' icon if you have custom firmware psp skip this step. After you patched your 1.5 firmware psp follow step ii)

ii) click on ''3.52 M33 Creator'' icon and wait , it will take like 2 mins.

PSP 3.50 downgrader / downgrading guide for 3.50 and below

What did i tell you - now its out : ) . Please take a video of and send it to me at igizmore@rediffmail.com (will give credit) .OK straight to business , :

Note: you can also downgrade any psp using the pandora battery , see the tutorial HERE

Requirements:
1)
A legal UMD copy of Lumines (part 1) , either US (ULUS10002) or EU (ULES00043) .If u don't have lumines see HERE

2) You need Winrar to open zipped and RAR files download it from
here

3) Make sure that the psp system language is set to English .

4)
PSP running Sony’s official 3.50 firmware , If your psp is under 3.50 just download the update from here ,Conncet psp to PC via usb , Unzip and place the file in [your psp drive letter]:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE (make a folder called UPDATE in the game folder and place the 3.50 EBOOT.PBP there ), make sure your battery is full , run the game via the GAME menu and delete the data when your done.

NOTE:
If you have a TA082+ motherboard and you downgrade to 1.50, currently you will be unable to upgrade to 3.30+ Sony firmware. This is due to Sony blocking updates when the PSP has been modified to run 1.50. There will be an application released later which will allow users to revert the changes. If you are using a TA082 motherboard then I would suggest just using 1.50 or OE until an application is released.

WARNING, ANY DOWNGRADER HAS A CHANCE OF BRICKING A PSP. WHEN A PSP IS BRICKED YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO USE IT ANYMORE. PLEASE TRY THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. Well like other downgraders it has its own risk too .

INSTRUCTIONS :

1) Download the downgrader pack from
here .

2) Connect your PSP to your PC via USB

3) Open the file with winrar and copy the PSP folder to the ROOT of the PSP , if it asks you if it can overwrite click on "Yes" .

4) Load Lumines and press x to start the game

5) The screen will clear to black and fill with a light blue colour, then the PSP will reset itself.

6) Check that HEN is running by going to system settings, then to"System Information" and it
should show up as system version 350 HEN

7)If it is showing up as HEN then go to the memory stick and run the x.yz update (1.50)

8)If you have an unpatched TA-082 or higher motherboard, you will be to allow the downgrader to patch your motherboard so it can be safely downgraded. The downgrader will not let you proceed without patching, if your motherboard requires it.

9)Before the downgrader does anything to your PSP it will ask for you to agree to what it is doing, if you no longer want to continue press the Right Shoulder Button (R-TRIGGER).

10)Once you have agreed to start the downgrade do not unplug the PSP, or try and restart it

11)Once finished the PSP will ask you to press X, and reset itself

12) If it comes up saying that the settings are corrupt, press x to continue, this will mean you will need to re-enter the settings for network connections into your PSP, otherwise go to step14

13) Load the included NetConfigBackup application in your PSP, and select torestore, this will take the backup that was done of the network config that was done automatically during the downgrade.

14) All done now *yaaaaa* Hopefully you now have a 1.50 PSP . To update to a 3.40 OE-A (the best custom firmware that allows you to play iso's and homebrews click
here .

Troubleshooting
If when trying to restore the network config using netconf backup you find that it gives you an error on the downgraded 1.50 PSP, try adding a temporary network config, then deleting it and run the netconf backup again.

3.40 oe custom firmware installation

3.40 OE-A is old update to 3.52 M33 from here

I guarantee you this is the easiest and safest 3.40 oe-A installation guide on the net . 3.40 oe –A is a custom firmware by dark alex that is basically like a 1.5 psp with 3.40 compatibility . You can run psp iso’s , cso’s (upto 3.40 compatibility) , psx games , homebrews , and even devhook etc. This installation requires flashing so use at your own risk . It really safe , If you follow the instructions you wont have any problems . See If this video helps .

3.40 oe – A installation

For installing this you need a 1.5 psp or a psp with older version of custom firmware from 2.71 SE-A to 3.30 OE-A (if u have custom firmware make sure you are on 1.5 kernel mode , need help see here .)

1) Format your psp (go to system settings and choose format memorystick) and connect it to your PC . Make sure your battery is 100% full

2) Download the 3.40 oe-A easy installation (compiled by me) from here (34 MB) or torrent link , torrent link needs utorrent or similar software (please seed)

3) Open it with WinRAR if you don’t have WinRar download it from here

4) So open with Winrar and copy the PSP folder to the root of your memory stick , If it asks you whether it can over write click on “YES”

5) Disconnect the psp from the PC , scroll to the game menu > memory stick and start the OE UpdateMaker

6) Some white text will come up , it will take about 3 minutes if you are using memory stick duo pro and it will return to the XMB home . Reconnect your psp to the PC.

7) There will now be a new file in PSP/GAME/OEUPDATEMAKER, named "DATA.DXAR". If it has the size of zero bytes, then format the psp and redo it .

8) Go to PSP/GAME/OEUPDATEMAKER, and move the newly created DATA.DXAR into: X:\PSP\GAME\340oeflasher . Then disconnect the psp from the PC .

9) Here comes the flashing part MAKE SURE THERE IS NO UMD IN YOUR PSP REMOVE IT IF THERE IS .

10) Make sure your battery is at least 75% (100% recommended) a. scroll to the Game menu > memory stick and start the application named 3.40 OE Firmware install.

11) It will display some pink text, press X, and it will start flashing your psp. When it finishes, you will be prompted to manually restart your PSP. And your done you now have a 3.40 0e custom firmware . It has replaced your 1.5 / older custom firmware so you can FORMAT the psp or delete the files .I recommend having 1.5 recovery on custom firmware download it from here

ALSO SEE 3.40 custom firmware users guide to know how to play iso's , cso's , homebrews etc from here . Here is a video of how you can access the recovery menu click here .

How to Downgrade a 2.71 ,2.7. 2.6 , 2.5 or lower psp to 1.5

I have personally tried this downgrader 5 times and all resulting in a complete success. I do not guarantee you that you shall be successful as me . Please try this AT YOUR OWN RISK. I will give you 99% success chance if you do EXACTLY WHAT I SAY. But I say let's get it done , it worked for me 5 times and I doubt you will have any problems (hopefully) if you do what i say
: D (trust me).

NOTE: If you have a TA-082 psp , to check click here (your UMD tray will be green in colour) do not attempt this downgrading . Instead do this how to play games on psp without downgrading . I repeat do not attempt this if you have a TA-082 modchip (rare)

REQUIRMENTS:

1) You will need WinRaR for extracting download it from here

2)Your PSP must be 100% charged , you will also need a psp USB cable and a FORMATED memory stick which is atleast more than 32 MB.

To check whats your f/w (firmware) version go to "system settings " on the main menu > choose "system information" > and see the system software

3) If your firmware is 2.71 skip this step , if its lower than that download this here

4)Download the DOWNGRADER from here

5)Download the DOWNDATER file from here

OK LET'S GET EM DONE

Downgrading to 1.5

1)If you are on 2.71 Skip this step . If you're on a lower one then go into PSP > GAME and create a new folder called UPDATE. Put the EBOOT.PBP file from STEP (3)in there. Restart your PSP and update it as normal via the GAME menu (Just click on the update icon on the folder and follow the instructions). Delete the data when you're done.

2) Open up the zipped Downgrader file from step (4) . Click on MS_ROOT and you will see the following: PSP , d.bin , LEEME.TXT , README.TXT Copy these onto you PSP's root (the first screen you see when you go into it in USB mode eg removable disk (H:) or (I:) or (J:). If it tells you 'there's already a folder called PSP' or something overwrite it - Just click on "OK".

3) Take the unzipped DOWNDATER folder from STEP (5) and put it in the same place, your PSP's root. your psp should have these things

PSP (folder) <- very important DOWNDATER (folder) <- very important d.bin <- you should have this MP_ROOT (folder) <- it's not important that you have this . LEEME.TXT <- it's not important that you have this README.TXT <- it's not important that you have this MEMSTICK.IND and MSTK_PRO.IND <- Not important that you have this your psp should look like this

then RECHECK WHAT YOU HAVE DONE again and again

4) SEE that your psp is full charged , Remove the UMD disk (if any) and Recheck the steps .

5) See this video before doing it here or here (alt. link) it helps alot.

6) Disconnect your psp fom the PC , restart it and go to photos (A small trick that always works for me is switch on your psp scrool to settings then scrool back to photos and click on it as fast as you can .) If it gets stuck just hold the power till it switches off or remove the battery (seriously chill don't worry this is normal ) . After a few attempts your whole screen will turn red (just like the video ) just leave it. It took me 7 attempts for the first time to turn the whole screen red , after about 2 minutes the psp will automatically switch off just leave it alone.

7) Wait for about 1 minute before switching your psp back on. If everything has gone well you will see a crazy blue screen (like the one below) , just press circle . CONGRATS YOU SUCCESSFULY DOWNGRADED YOUR PSP (woo-hoo!) (read below)

YAAAA... See I told you so :D works every time. It will ask you for date and time and stuff after which you can go to system settings and check your 1.5 f/w on your system information . FORMAT YOUR PSP AFTER THIS .

TO PLAY ISO's ON YOU 1.5 PSP :) click here

You can email this post to your friends just click on the email icon below

1. First go here http://www.dark-alex.org/ and download under "Homebrew Enabler" And download Rev D + devhook , if not just google it , it will show up .

2. Extract all of the contents of this folder the hend.rar one. Make sure you have WinRAR for this.

3. Connect your psp with a USB. Copy everything from the MS_ROOT folder to your PSP.

4. OK, now download under Homebrew Enabler "Devhook Launcer Port Ver 0.2."

5. Now copy everything from the MS_ROOT from it, onto your PSP. Ask for overwrite etc Yes to all.

6. Okay here comes the kind of confusing part. Download this extract it, and open the dh folder and copy all of the files from the 150 folder onto the 150 folder inside of your dh folder on your PSP. So to simple it out; i) Download the file from PSP hacks ii) Extract all of its contents iii) Open the dh folder in the MS_ROOT of the extract folder iiii) Open the 150 folder and copy the files from the 150 folder, onto the X:Your PSP/dh/150.

7. Now download this and extract it

14. Turn on your PSP, go to Photo and go to HEND

15. Now it should come up with a Blue Screen then a Green Screen! If it comes up with Red Screen that means it was not sucessful DON'T WORRY THIS IS NORMAL just turn your PSP off and try again. IF it turns Blue Then Green, it was sucessful! It should restart your PSP.

16. NOW go to your System Settings and see if it says 2.71 HEN-D. IF it does you did everything right.

17. OK now go to Game on your PSP and go Memory stick and press X. Now you should see many files. Go to DEVHOOK 0.4X launcher for 2.71. It should come up with a menu saying Start,UMD Select,Firmware,CPU_CLock etc.

18. Select Firmware and select 1.50.

19. Select Start.

20. It should load saying game could not be started (error code) DON'T WORRY THIS IS NORMAL.

21. Go to your System Settings. Guess what 1.50!

22. OK Now go game and go to 3.01 DH FW Installer. Press Circle. (IT becomes reversed after enabling 1.50)

23. Now it should come up with a black screen with white text telling you stuff. Press X to install it.

24. OK after its done, make sure its completly DONE. It says its done early on. DON'T LET THIS FOOL YOU WAIT TIL IT IS COMPLETLY DONE AND EXITS AFTER IT GIVES THE 10 SECOND COUNTDOWN.

25. It will now exit.

26. OK restart your PSP, enable HEN-D in Picture/Photo and go to, UNDER GAME, DEVHOOK 0.51 BETA for 2.71.

27. Under firmware select 3.01. And hit start.

28. Go to your system settings and it should be 3.01!

///FAQ\\\

Q: Will this brick (spoil) my PSP?

A: NO not even a chance as it all runs off of your memory stick.

Q: When the screen turns blue then green, do i have to do this each time?

A: NO once it turns green, each time you still have to load it, but it will only turn BLUE. Green just means it was installed sucessfully and is only required ONCE!

Q: Can i keep HEN-D enabled forever?

A: You can keep it on sleep, but each time you fully turn off your PSP, your reset to 2.71 and you have to load it though the PHOTO.

Q: What exactly are the advantages of this?

A: Well its great for loading ISO and CSO games off your memory stick which require higher then 2.71. Since a lot of the newer games require higher then 2.71!

Q: Will this work on my TA-082 PSP?

A: Yes! This is what i did it on and it worked for me 100%

Q:How do i get back to my orignal 2.71 firmware?

A: Just fully turn off your PSP

Q: Do i need a background to load HEN-D?

A: You don't need one, but the chances of your system freezing will pretty much never happen if you have your background.

REMINDERS

1. To load ISO/CSO games simply enable HEN-D, load DEVHOOK 0.51 BETA for 2.71, select 3.01 as your firmware, select file emulation and select your CSO/ISO you want to load. Hit Start. Now you will be brought to the PSP HOME with the game, hit Circle to start.

2. MAKE sure there is no UMD in your drive when loading HEN-D, or Devhook, only put the UMD (ANYUMD) in the drive while you are in the Devhook Menu. IT IS REQUIRED TO PLAY ISO/CSO games. Most ISO's will work .

3. YOU will have better luck loading HEN-D when you have your own background image, instead of the XMB wave thing. It will usually work everytime with a background image.

I have copied this tutorial an have edited it a bit. To convert iso's to cso's see my previous article here
